This is the first volume in a series on wild orchids in Myanmar. This volume highlights the wild orchid species that can be found in the Shan Start of Myanmar.  It gives scientific names and brief notes as well as colour photographs of orchids which grow in often-threatened natural habitats. The distinctive beauty of these photographs is that they have been taken of the plants, and not just the flowers, as they are in a natural habitat.
