The background, characteristics and traditional patterns of Vietnamese architecture are overviewed in the first three sections. Selected examples of traditional buildings are then described with colour photographs, drawings and ground plans. Among the buildings cited are: communal houses, pagodas and towers, temples, churches, traditional palaces, tombs, citadels and dwelling places.
