The Diana, a 350 tonne cargo ship bearing China goods for Madras foundered off Malacca in 1817. This magnificently produced book gives the background and history of Diana, built in Calcutta in 1812, and tells the tale of the amateur South African salver who after three years of effort found the wreck and its cargo. Much of the cargo has found its way from Christie's auction rooms to the museums and collections throughout the world.
