1999 fourth and revised edition of the authoritative 1960 text on the avifauna of Borneo. Part of the revision was by B. E. Smithies (1912-1999), the original author, and the remainder by Geoffrey Davison. The massive work includes eight specialists' background essays and a systematic annotated account of the 662 identified bird species of Borneo. There are also: a summary history of Borneo ornithology; a tabulated distribution summary; 55 colour plates, bibliography; topical index; and index of common and scientific names.
