The reader may be shaken by these unusual and often alarming autobiographical sketches. A Singaporean middle class woman highlights many traumas and bitternesses she has experienced in a disaster-prone life. She has attended university in Australia and London, taken drugs, lived riotously and broken most of Singapore's middle class conventions. She tells of suicide attempts, psychiatric diagnoses and treatments and exorcisms of various kinds. Some of her experiences are reflected in selected poems. And now at the age of 29 she states she now is in Singapore and managing her own "healthier, happier and powerself". May she continue to do so!
