This catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition, Magie en Modernisme: Kunstenaars van Bali 1928-1942, at the Kunsthal Rotterdam in 1999. The exhibition aimed to introduce a number of foreign artists who have influenced Balinese art in the 1930s. Known as Pre-War Balinese Modernism, it was a vigorous and vibrant movement of great originality and significance. Illustrated with full colour plates.
