Old photographs and paintings of the Dutch colonial period in Ghana accompany contributions by experts and researchers from Ghana, the Netherlands and Suriname to document the former African colony's long and fascinating relationship with its colonial master.  Also included is a chapter on reminiscences of the African community in Purworejo -- then known as Bagelen, in central Java, Indonesia.
