As Head Assistant to the Superintendent of Forests' Office in Pegu, Robert Abreu made three expeditions into the region's forests in the mid-1850s, the first two times in the company of Dr McClelland, and the third in the company of Dr Brandis. This book is his diary of those three expeditions, and it includes their botanical and zoological papers.
