Reissue of the 1956 Cornell anthology of translated modern literature written in Indonesian during the period when Dutch was being left behind. Some of the 20 contributions - essays, short stories or poems - are by writers, including Mochtar Lubis and Pramoedya Ananta Toer, who became recognised as giants on the world's literary scene.
