Portraits form part of the major Muwen Tang Collection, Hong Kong. This study of Chinese portraiture includes over a hundred colour plates. The history and purposes of portrait painting are overviewed, and the techniques, conventions and costuming of the earlier Qing periods discussed. Each of the 100 portraits is annotated and significant details are highlighted and discussed. Bilingual in non-simplified Chinese.
