Menstruation is of course a biological process common to all women but perceived in many different ways. In this study a sociologist describes how it is being regarded in Malaysia. Cultural, religious, hygienic, vocabulary and personal aspects of the menstrual process are explored. Women's perceptions of the female body are also discussed.
