The author, a Former Assistant Director of Education, Singapore, writes informally of Dr. Goh Keng Swee (1919-2010) under whom he worked for 11 years in the Staff College when Dr. Goh was Minister of Defence and as a Senior Inspector in the Ministry of Education when he was Minister there. These anecdotes highlight many of the methods, aims and attitudes which enabled Dr. Goh's vast range of achievements on which so much of Singapores life economy and defence has been and is still built upon.
