Roy Lichtenstein: Landscapes In Chinese Style
This world-renowned pop artist was part of a 1950s movement that used, in a fresh approach to art making, imagery from cartoons, advertisements and other "popular" art. The paintings presented here are Roy Lichtenstein's provocative response, created around 1996, to Chinese landscape paintings of the Song Dynasty. He employs his trademark "dot" technique to reproduce the magical effects of classic Chinese landscapes.
