Lee Man Fong (1913-1988) was born in China. He grew up in Singapore, where he studied art first with a Lingnan painter and later with a teacher of oil painting. In 1933, he left for Indonesia, where he stayed for 35 years. This sumptuous 2-volume catalogue of his oil paintings is published in conjunction with an exhibition of his works. The works collected here, selected from private collections, reflect Lee Man Fong's extraordinary career and reaffirms his contributions as a pioneer Southeast Asian artist. Included here are both his earliest painting, done when he was 16, and his final work in 1988. Each volume begins with introductory essays in English, Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia. Slipcased.
