Leadership, Justice and Politics at the Grassroots (Contributions to Southeast Asian Ethnography No. 12, July 2004). The 12th issue of the occasional journal 'Contributions to Southeast Asian Ethnography' is introduced by a summary of the Journal's aims and achievements. Since 1970 it has been publishing indepth ethnographic studies of minority peoples. The nine articles in this issue highlight and discuss aspects of local leadership and justice patterns. The peoples studied are: borderland Lisu people of Northern Thailand; the Lahu population of Lancang, China; an Orang Asli resettlement village in Kedah, West Malaysia; the Semporna Sama Dilaut of Sulu/Sabah; Dusun societies in Brunei; the Western Penan of Sarawak; Orang Banggai of Central Sulawesi; and the Hoga Sara people of Flores. Each article is referenced and illustrated in black and white. An index to all 12 issues of the Journal is included.
