Khon Muang: People and Principalities of North Thailand (People and Cultures of Southeast Asia). The rich cultural life and inheritance of the Khon Muang people of Northern Thailand are conveyed in the text and colour photographs in this volume. While the last political structure of the Lan Na Kingdom has long been replaced by the Bangkok-based State, considerable cultural distinctiveness remains. Of recent years, there has been more interest in understanding and/or reviving some of the practices, rites, and traditions pictured and described in this volume.
