One of the great lures of drawing lies in the "prima idea", or the artist's first creative spark. In contrast to other genres of art, its privilege is that it is capable of immediately every artistic caprice - from fleeting notions and specific ideas to fantastic visions - on a piece of paper. Drawing's high value and its primary status in the visual arts are revealed through the historical term disegno.
