Brave Men Of The Hills: Resistance And Rebellion In Burma, 1825-1932. British colonial rule existed with varying strength in Burma 1825-1948. Based on extensive research, this study of the Burmese popular response to the colonial administrative and economic system looks at the period 1825-1932. It focuses on the  gradually hardening peasant resistance that  followed the wars of 1825-1852 and 1885 and on the rather different revolt led by Saya San in 1930-1933.
