It is based on the extensive 2002-05 pioneer research done on the biodiversity of the Kuching rivers. A discussion of this background work and of the role of fish in local society is followed by a classified guide to some 102 of the 254 freshwater fishes so far identified in Sarawak. The entry for each species includes scientific and local names, notes on habits, external characteristics, and on distribution. With many colour photographs, glossary, bibliography and index.
