Tim Hardy (b. 1922) tells the tale of his life as a Colonial Police Officer in a lighthearted style with many iconoclastic asides. He notes his childhood poverty in the English Midlands and army service in WWII, and then offers tales and sidelights on the years 1946-82. He was in West Malaya, Tanganyika, Sarawak, Fiji and Hong Kong and observed many of the excitements and sadnesses of these final years of the British Empire.
