Since 1997 the Singapore Mediation Centre has been promoting the peaceful resolution of disputes and conflicts which would otherwise fester or involve potentially negative actions. Six Singapore practising mediators offer perspectives on the future of this kind of dispute resolution. Part A describes and discusses the largely Western-oriented origins of contemporary mediation models, and strategies by which they could be made more effective in Asian contexts. Part B is on specific factors which promote trust and effective acceptability in more hierarchical and often more institutionalised Asian cultures. Index.
