Maurice Cotterill (1905-1980) was a rubber planter in Pahang in 1942 and was one of the three British civilians who are known to have gone into the jungle and survived the 1942-45 Japanese Occupation. Cotterill's diaries are the basis of this book which puts his experiences in the context of Malaya's situation both before and after World War II.
