About This Book
This book takes the premise that certain basic civil and political rights of many Malaysians have been severely infringed upon during the more than two-decade rule of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Laws such as the Internal Security Act, the Sedition Act, and the Printing Presses and Publication Act allow the authorities sweeping powers; thousands have been detained without trial for years. However, human rights activists continue to persevere in their work to remove some of the obstacles.
